Affiliate disclosure

This site is free to read and is paid for by commission. What that means in practice is set out below, in line with the Competition Bureau's guidance on disclosing a material connection.

Where the money comes from

Some outbound links to providers are affiliate links. If you follow one and subscribe, this site receives a commission from that provider. The price is identical whether you go through the link or type the address yourself.

What it does not change

The matrix is a record of which channels played and which did not. A commission cannot make a feed appear, and no provider has ever been given a mark it did not earn on the bench. Where a service we are paid on falls short, the shortfall is printed, which is why three of the five services indexed here carry a plain warning in their verdict.

Why it works this way

Every subscription in the index is bought at full retail and re-bought each quarter. Commission covers those subscriptions, the connections they are checked on, and the time. Without it there would be no index, or there would be one funded by the providers directly, which is worse.
